Fusion Broadband's bonded hybrid service combining ADSL and 3G or 4G broadband is proving a boon to businesses in fringe areas that are poorly served by current fixed-line technologies and are still waiting for the NBN to arrive.

Game developer says 24Mbps is not good enough

A Hobart-based game developer says ADSL2+ is too slow, 4G is too expensive, but (like baby bear's porridge) NBN FTTP is just right.

Following the release of our new internet plans in early September, many users now have access to faster Internet speeds and a more generous download limit then they previously had. Due to the popularity of the new access plans, SBDC has grown by a staggering 45% in one month.

While a national rollout of the NBN may be on its way, it isn't likely to happen for a number of years, leaving many businesses with a long wait for a faster broadband service.

ZTE claims VDSL2 vectoring breakthrough

ZTE has announced what it claims is the world's first system-level VDSL2 vectoring prototype - technology that increases the carrying capacity of copper pairs in the telephone network by managing all the pairs in a multi-pair cable so as to minimise crosstalk between discrete pairs.

The Internet Industry Association (IIA) has released its ninth broadband index saying it shows that competition at the infrastructure level is essential to aggressive broadband pricing.

Internode calls an end to 'fraudband' plans

National ISP Internode has dropped its old 256Kbps and 512Kbps plans, and will deliver a minimum of 1500Kbps to new customers. The company has also announced a "truly unlimited" plan.

iiNet expands regional DSLAM network

iiNet is to expand its DSLAM network with installations in  Campbelltown, Coffs Harbour and Wollongong in NSW, Mooloolaba, Caloundra and Toowoomba in Queensland, Geelong in Victoria and Bunbury in West Australia.

Primus to resell Telstra ADSL2+

Primus has become the latest ISP to strike a deal with Telstra Wholesale to resell Telstra's ADSL2+ service and is now  offering ADSL2+ from 1500 Telstra exchanges.

Although Gotalk has long worked with Optus to resell ADSL services, it has now announced a wholesale broadband deal with Telstra, “targeting” regional Australia, including Tassie - along with a separate new 3G mobile plan that has one whopper of a video call charge, although international calling is the big drawcard.

Internode now offering Telstra ADSL2+ services

Internode has started selling ADSL2+ broadband services across the entire Telstra DSLAM footprint of more than 1400 telephone exchangesand claims that its prices represent better value than those from Telstras' BigPond.

Westnet launches Telstra ADSL2+ services UPDATED

iiNet subsidiary Westnet has 'soft-launched' ADLS2+ services from all 1400 plus Telstra ADSL2+ capable exchanges. The move follows launch of services on the DSLAMs of its parent, iiNet, on  21 October.
