Primus Telecom's performance picks up

After allowing for currency fluctuations Primus Telecom has reported that net revenue for its Australian subsidiary in Q1 of 2010 increased $US1.3m or 1.9 percent, from fourth quarter 2009 and decreased $US0.7m or 1.4 percent, from first quarter 2009.

Primus Telecom gears up to offer IPTV

TIO names and shames

Primus to resell Telstra ADSL2+

Primus has become the latest ISP to strike a deal with Telstra Wholesale to resell Telstra's ADSL2+ service and is now  offering ADSL2+ from 1500 Telstra exchanges.

Primus Telecom Australia is putting a positive spin on its US parent's move into chapter 11 bankruptcy protection saying it could lead to more of the Australian subsidiary's cashflow being re-invested in the Australian business.

Primus Telecommunications Group, the US holding company of Primus Telecom Australia has filed for Chapter 11 protection to reduce interest rate payments to creditors on debts totalling US$650 million (about AUD$1 billion). The consensual Chapter 11 filing with creditors will see the debts reduced to US$315 million.

Macquarie Telecom and Optus Networks have each notified the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) of access disputes with Telstra concerning the unconditioned local loop service (ULLS). Even though the ACCC recently made final determinations in 18 access disputes, an astounding 35 are still being arbitrated.
