Naked DSL driving herd of consumers to VoIP: IDC

The movement from traditional voice telephony to Internet based VoIP services in homes is picking up steam, driven by the emergence of Naked DSL, according to a new report.

Published in Market
In what must be a worrying sign for Telstra's traditional voice telephony business, naked DSL is proving to be a smash hit for Australia's third largest ISP iiNet and its customers. iiNet claims it has signed up more than 25,000 households in six months, and that two-thirds say they're saving at least $20 per month on Internet and phone charges.

Published in Market
This story as originally published was based on comments from an IDC Australia executive. IDC Australia managing director, Graeme Muller, has refuted those  comments, in particular, that Telstra's is the best ADSL service in Australia. His statements follow. The original article remains, at the end of this new version.
