Communications provider My Net Fone Limited (MyNetFone) has reported a substantial increase in revenue and net profits for the half year ended 31 December 2013.

MyNetFone to acquire GoTalk wholesale

Aggressive VoIP provider MyNetFone has announced it will acquire competitor GoTalk’s network and wholesale business for $1.4 million in cash.

Trans-Tasman VOIP services provider, gotalk, has disputed what it says is competitor Engin’s claim to “have the best offer on the market”, and today launched its own “improved range” of new VOIP plans in an attempt to get customers to change service providers.

 

VoIP service provider Engin (ASX: ENG) has upped the ante in the increasingly competitive VoIP market with a new plan for residential customers offering 600 minutes of calls to Australian local, national and mobile numbers and to more than 100 international destinations (including some international mobile destinations) for$29.95 per month.

TIO names and shames

The Australian Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman’s (TIO) office has released a report analysing complaints they have received against essentially all Australian telecommunications companies.  This report reflects the TIO’s desire to assist with improvement rather than simply wielding a big stick.

Gotalk claims 'step changing' new technology

Trans-Tasman telco Gotalk is claiming a cost saving ‘step change’ with the release of new technology for small and medium sized businesses which combines a standard PABX system with broadband VOIP.
Although Gotalk has long worked with Optus to resell ADSL services, it has now announced a wholesale broadband deal with Telstra, “targeting” regional Australia, including Tassie - along with a separate new 3G mobile plan that has one whopper of a video call charge, although international calling is the big drawcard.
