Nokia N85 joins Telstra's Next G brigade
Although 2100MHz 3.5G networks have the widest range of 3G handsets
available for it, the 850MHz network (as used by Telstra, AT&T,
Rogers and others) still has all the major players making top models
working on the frequency, with the N85 (arguably better than the N96)
now joining the line-up.

Why we need high upstream bandwidths
When Sol Trujillo announced plans to upgrade Telstra's HFC network to the 100Mbps downstream bandwidths of DOCSIS 3.0 he claimed that Telstra's research had identified demand for the increased upstream bandwidth of 2.0Mbps. Research released by Ericson and CNN appears to confirm this.

Optus' N96 users get a taste of mobile TV broadcasting
A bunch of Optus mobile customers with Nokia N96 phones are getting to enjoy the benefits of digital video broadcast to handheld (DVB-H) services under Australia's second trial of the technology which delivers up to 30 video channels over a single 7MHz UHF TV broadcast channel.

Ustream.TV app for iPhone - buffering hell!
The iPhone’s first video streaming app, Ustream.TV, is finally
available as a free download for the iPhone 1G, 2G and apparently the
iPod Touch 2G only, but while it’s nice, it buffers way too much to
actually be useful.

Shrugging off the exclusion from the NBN process, Telstra has leveraged
technology from a company called “CoolIRIS” to deliver a pretty “3D”
news wall that also shows images and videos from a range of other
sites, including YouTube, Deviant Art, Google and others – but is it
real 3D?
