Mobile WiMAX to get an early speed boost

The WiMAX Forum has announced plans to bring forward feature upgrades to the mobile WiMAX standard that will improve throughput, particularly at the fringes of cell sites.

Behind every good LTE there's an EPC

The press has been full of Telstra's upcoming LTE trials and the names of its chosen vendors. LTE is sexy because it promises us downloads of YouTube videos and lots of other good stuff at speeds undreamt of a few years ago, but it is only one part of the story, and not even the most important part.

Samsung's LTE netbook isn't LaTE, it's way early

Although Samsung has announced a netbook with an inbuilt LTE modem at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung's notebook and netbook announcements last week in Australia were far more significant: a netbook with built-in quad-band 3.5G (HSPA) modem module, and an admission that a Chrome OS powered netbook is in the works!

Investment research firm, MicroEQUITIES has issued a strong buy recommendation on wireless broadband network operator, BigAir (ASX: BGL), saying its shares should be worth twice the price of about eleven cents they are currently trading at.
