Unwired reveals key suppliers & plans for national WiMAX rollout
Unwired has named the remaining key suppliers for the Vividwireless mobile WiMax network rollout in Perth and says networks in the major capitals will follow in short order.

Telstra takes ADSL2+ to 88 percent of Tasmanians
Telstra says it has upgraded its 100th telephone exchange in Tasmania, in Richmond, to ADSL2+, extending ADSL2+ coverage to 88 percent of Tasmanian homes and businesses.

Ericsson's embedded HSPA module to drive the "all communicating world"
Ericsson has unveiled a new mobile broadband module designed for embedding in consumer electronic devices such as e-book readers, GPS navigators, hailing it as one of the first of wave of new devices that will "drive the third wave of mobile broadband" into a wide range of non-computer electronic products.

Nokia claims first LTE modem
Nokia has released what it claims is the first modem designed for use with the next iteration of 3G wireless broadband technology - the Long Term Evolution, slated to deliver downstream bandwidths of up to 160Mbps.

Perth to be first with 'Unwired' mobile WiMAX service
The long-awaited launch of mobile WiMAX services by Seven Network subsidiary, Unwired Australia, will take place in Perth in March next year but with Unwired relegated to the role of network builder and operator and a new Seven subsidiary, Vividwireless responsible for all marketing and customer facing responsibilities.

Wireless operator Clever moves into the black
Fixed wireless broadband network operator, Clever Communications has turned a 2008 NPAT loss of $3.5m into a profit of $0.325m for 2009 and reported a 50 percent increase in EBITDA to $1.69m.

NetComm triples revenues on back of wireless broadband product sales
Comms equipment maker NetComm (ASX: NTC) has turned in a stunning result for the year to 30 June 2009 with a tripling of revenues to $78.5m, an almost sixfold increase in EBITDA to $6.2 million and a tenfold increase in pretax profits to $5.3 million.

First Vodafone, then Telstra, now Optus launches HSPA enabled netbook
Just hours after Telstra introduced its first netbook and laptop computers (from Acer) with embedded HSPA modems, Optus has joined the bandwagon with an HSPA enabled Samsung netbook.

Telstra has struck a deal with Acer under which it will sell two Aspire One 10 inch (25cm) Netbooks and the 14 inch Aspire 4810T Timeline notebook computer with embedded HSPA modems.

Apple shines as PC industry fights way back from decline
Amidst a decline in revenues afflicting the PC market in the economic downturn, only Apple amongst all the vendors managed some growth in the first quarter of this year, thanks to triple-digit growth in revenue from sales of its iPhone.

Mobile data to outstrip voice traffic by 2011
Nokia Siemens Networks says the volume of data on mobile networks is doubling annually and will likely exceed voice (measured in bytes) by 2011. Meanwhile, other research suggests voice traffic is declining at the expense of email, texting and instant messaging.

NEC's Nextep offers "unlimited" 3G connectivity for private networks
