Together, telcos get charitable

Telco Together, a new telco industry charity focused on disadvantaged communities - founded by M2 Telecoms CEO, Vaughan Bowen - was launched last week at the ACOMM Awards dinner in Sydney, with NBN Co CEO Mike Quigley as chairman of its advisory board.

M2 Telecom CEO Vaughan Bowen to step aside

Vaughan Bowen who has served as CEO of telecoms service provider M2 Telecommunications since its inception in 1999 is to relinquish his role to COO Geoff Horth and become an executive director of the company responsible, among other thing, for mergers and acquisitions.

M2 Telecoms reports record profit

Telecommunications services provider M2 Telecommunications Group (ASX: MTU) has reported a record net profit after tax (NPAT) of $27.6m (up 72 percent on the previous year) and record EBITDA of $48.3m (up 54 percent) on revenues that were five percent up, to $426.8m.

M2 Telecommunications Group (ASX: MTU) has become the first retail service provider to connect an NBN customer via Telstra Wholesale, which is the first provider to offer products and services over the NBN that can be re-sold to consumers.

Austar sells mobile business to M2 telecoms

Austar has sold its 15,000 strong mobile customer base to M2 Telecommunications' subsidiary, Southern Cross Telco for $2m in cash.

Clever Communications (ASX: CVA), a provider of fixed broadband wireless services to businesses in major metro areas, is planning to sell those parts of its business that serve customers by reselling wireline and mobile services from other telcos to M2 Telecommunications (ASX: MTU) for $5m.

The deal is the latest in a string of significant acquisitions that have turned the ten year old company into a major player in the Australian telecoms market.
