Unlocked Google phone likely for sale on January 5

Google is poised to extend its domination of search to the mobile phone market with news an official Google phone may be on sale as early as January 5th. The handset will be for sale unlocked and without contract and will use data, not voice.

Oh crap - I just dropped my phone down the loo!

Although Microsoft’s new survey on mobile phone usage in the bathroom/toilet/lavatory makes no mention of bathroom based mobile mishaps, with nearly 50% of Aussies using their phones in the so-called “rest room”, why didn’t they ask this question?

Google's iPhone mobile app - still speechless

Google’s “Mobile App” for iPhone was meant to get an upgrade allowing iPhone users to search Google by voice, with the New York Times reporting it would come “as soon as” last Friday – but so far, Google’s mobile app remains speechless.

Google has made massive strides in working to dominate search from mobile phones as much as it does search from desktop computers, but they’re not the only ones. In Australia, Telstra’s assets BigPond, Sensis, Yellow Pages and other sites it owns are being promoted to users as a “convenient” way to find what you’re looking for from your mobile phone – but will Google still win anyway?
