Why smaller is sometimes better

 

There's a meme spreading that says Apple was right to stay with a 3.5in screen for the iPhone family despite calls for more real estate. The argument is that you can't easily reach the opposite corners when using a 4+in device one-handed, but I call shenanigans.

Apple's iPad 2: resoundingly #winning so far!

With the iPad 2 under attack from a wide range of tablets that either most don't yet want or which still aren't available until later this year, with some just getting new delays in the last week, 2011 is already the year of the iPad 2 by availability, desirability, demand and default.

It seems that a hijacker can take over your smartphone via a suitably crafted SMS message or via an attack at a wireless hot spot, according to Trust Digital.

After a lengthier beta testing period than normal, at last Skype 4.0 has been officially released. I appreciate many of the changes, but even after all that testing there are some graphical user interface changes that I don't think much of at all.

Opinion: Web 2.0 - an inedible Pie!

The pie-in-the-sky hype surrounding "Web 2.0" seems to have enticed some organizations to the honey pot with less than impressive results. Buzzwords abound: is Web 2.0 the same as Web Services or SOA, and does Web 2.0 have to be implemented using AJAX techniques? Where are we now with all this, and where's it all leading?

Major feature missing from Adobe Reader 9?

Adobe Reader 9, part of the Adobe Acrobat 9 package, seems to have omitted an important user interface feature that was present in earlier Reader releases, making its usability worse rather than better. I hope this wasn't part of a nefarious plan by Adobe Systems, but just an amazingly clumsy oversight!
