Money-to-burn Gen Y's waste it on 'œCaller Tones'

With the global economic crises reaching fever pitch, will Gen Y’s desire to frivolously waste money on things like “Caller Tones” give way to the post “Great Depression” learnings of savings and thrift? Or will the need to look, and in this case, sound cool, trump economic reality, with Gen Y’s often still living at home and couched from stock market shenanigans?

Demand growing for mobile content and services

Fewer people are buying more mobile content, according to the latest Australian Mobile Phone Lifestyle Index. The study is published by the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association, and sponsored by mobile broadband application provider m.Net and user interface design company Ideal Interfaces.

Opera Software, developer of the popular Opera Mini web browser for mobile phones, has struck up a partnership with Jamba (aka Jamster) so that the Opera Mini homepage will "allow users to access the Jamba site with one easy click,"  - making it so much easier for them to get locked into costly subscriptions to ringtones, wallpapers etc.
