North America a global leader in 5G, says GSMA

North America as one of the most advanced mobile regions in the world as a result of significant operator investments in 5G, according to a newly published study from mobile industry body GSMA.

Chinese mobile operators are leading the world in the deployment of “transformative” Internet of Things solutions with 64% of the 1.5 billion global cellular connections, including the "rapidly growing" Mobile IoT licensed LPWA technologies2, according to the GSM Association.

The Pacific Islands have the lowest mobile Internet penetration rate in the world at 18%, but the mobile operators trade body, GSM Association, says the region has great potential and is on the cusp of a digital revolution.
