NZ’s Aurora Energy penalised $5 million for excessive level of power outages
New Zealand electricity company Aurora Energy has been hit with a High Court order to pay almost $5 million for contravening its network quality standards through an excessive level of power outages in the 2016 to 2019 years.

Three more bidders 'prioritised' for NZ FTTH network
Crown Fibre Holdings (CFH) - the New Zealand Government company set up to manage and invest in the country's FTTH network - has named three more bidders, including Telecom NZ, for 'priority negotiations' for the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) initiative.

Startling discovery: Explosions of light in Northern Lights
NASA’s THEMIS spacecraft, high in the sky, and a camera network, on the ground, has recorded an explosive phenomenon that caused the jaws of its scientists to drop. A movie shows spectacular outbursts of light as a result of collisions of the aurora borealis, the Northern Lights.

Former Telstra Country Wide chief, Doug Campbell to chair Tassie NBNCo.
Doug Campbell, former head of Telstra Country Wide and former deputy MD of Telstra, has been named as chair of the Tasmanian NBN Company (TNBN Co), a joint venture between NBNCo and Aurora Energy that will rollout and operate the National Broadband Network in Tasmania.

Tasmanian budget pumps $14.87m into NBN initiatives
The Tasmanian Government, in its state budget, has confirmed it will invest $12.7m into Aurora Energy and has announced other initiatives designed to maximise broadband opportunities created by the National Broadband Network (NBN), which will be rolled out first in Tasmania.
