Amidst a decline in revenues afflicting the PC market in the economic downturn, only Apple amongst all the vendors managed some growth in the first quarter of this year, thanks to triple-digit growth in revenue from sales of its iPhone.

Hewlett Packard outstripped IBM in revenue in the fourth quarter of last year despite the global economic downturn with particularly strong demand for its products in the US market, according to the latest business benchmark study by research firm, Technology Business Research (TBR).

A report just released on the IT industry says that IT services firm, Accenture, is showing that it is not immune to the challenging economic environment, with the company reporting a top line decline of 6% in US currency , but up 3% in local currency, for its fiscal second quarter of 2009.
