Telstra in collaboration with telecoms vendor Ericsson and mobile chipset OEM Qualcomm claims to have set a record uplink speed of 516 Mbps, surpassing the previous record of 447 Mbps set in October 2024.

Nokia and Taiwan Mobile (TWM) announced that it has achieved what they claim is the world’s first New Radio Carrier Aggregation (NR CA) by combining spectrum in the 700MHz and 3500MHz bands.

Demonstrating its 5G technology leadership, Optus reports achieving "another 5G milestone by combining 2100 MHz spectrum with 3500 MHz spectrum for the first time, through the use of 5G carrier aggregation and spectrum sharing technology, which will deliver customers with super-fast speeds and increased 5G coverage.”

Vodafone's first FDD Massive MIMO trial site has gone live in Parramatta, the first of five sites across Australia to act as trial locations for 4.9G, with Sydney's Chinatown and Haymarket to follow, and it's using Huawei technology to make it happen. 

Singtel claims to have achieved the world’s first 1Gbps mobile peak speed on Ericsson’s quad-band FDD/TDD Carrier Aggregation technology.

Hong Kong's top telco, SmarTone, has smartly decided to trial Ericsson's FDD Massive MIMO tech on the road to 5G.

Vodafone has "taken the next steps in the advancement of its mobile network performance by successfully conducting its first field demonstration of Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) using a Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) band".

Optus has been ‘recognised for 4G network and spectrum innovation’ with an award for ‘outstanding contribution to 4G TDD technology and in particular, 4G TDD-FDD convergence.’

4G LTE-A speeds are getting a boost on Optus in Melbourne’s CBD, followed by Sydney CBD in early 2016 and both Brisbane and Adelaide’s CBDs from mid-2016.

Optus says it is the first telco in the world to deliver carrier aggregation on three separate mobile networks (3xCA), delivering download speeds of 317 Mbps.
