Nokia and Taiwan Mobile (TWM) announced that it has achieved what they claim is the world’s first New Radio Carrier Aggregation (NR CA) by combining spectrum in the 700MHz and 3500MHz bands.
Demonstrating its 5G technology leadership, Optus reports achieving "another 5G milestone by combining 2100 MHz spectrum with 3500 MHz spectrum for the first time, through the use of 5G carrier aggregation and spectrum sharing technology, which will deliver customers with super-fast speeds and increased 5G coverage.”
Singtel claims to have achieved the world’s first 1Gbps mobile peak speed on Ericsson’s quad-band FDD/TDD Carrier Aggregation technology.
Optus has been ‘recognised for 4G network and spectrum innovation’ with an award for ‘outstanding contribution to 4G TDD technology and in particular, 4G TDD-FDD convergence.’
4G LTE-A speeds are getting a boost on Optus in Melbourne’s CBD, followed by Sydney CBD in early 2016 and both Brisbane and Adelaide’s CBDs from mid-2016.
Optus says it is the first telco in the world to deliver carrier aggregation on three separate mobile networks (3xCA), delivering download speeds of 317 Mbps.
Optus has achieved a ‘world first’ 2.3 Gbps total site throughput on its custom built ‘Gigasites’, partially through use of its TDD technology.
Australia’s second largest carrier has finished a major upgrade of its 3G network and boosted its 4G coverage.
Optus has activated what it claims is the world’s first 4G TDD (time division duplex) carrier aggregation.
