E3 2011: Time to greet the Sony Vita

What can a name do for a new device?  Successfully sink it or enable it to swim?  Sony today unveiled the new name for the PlayStation Portable gaming device.  The Vita graced the show stage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo today in Los Angeles.  Here are the details and specifications of the new device, there really is not much missing here.

In the looming shadow of the NGP (Next Generation Portable) Sony has decided to shift some current PlayStation Portable devices (PSP) by dropping the RRP by almost a third.

The PlayStation Phone to launch in March

No it is not the NGP (Next Generation Portable), nor the PSP 2, it actually isn't even the PlayStation Phone, but it will be a phone from Sony, capable of running PlayStation games without having your fingers get in the way.  It is the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, and it will be available in March.

Sony Vs Apple, could Sony win?

There is another digitised war a-brewin.  And as is nearly always the case lately, Sony and Apple are involved.  The Sony hierarchy are miffed about Apple's blocking of an e-book app that bypassed iTunes content delivery mechanism, and from here the battle has escalated to the point where Sony may pull its vast catalogue of music content from iTunes.

Sony announces PSP 2, the 3DS killer?

Can Sony resurrect the PlayStation Portable?  Today the electronics giant gave out details of the true successor to the PSP dubbing the PSP 2 the 'Next Generation Portable' NGP.  Will it be enough to make inroads into the hype developing around the impending Nintendo 3DS?  Well it will certainly give pause to prospective purchasers.

E310: It's a 3D future for Sony

Sony is looking past its nose into the future of entertainment, and is seeing a 3D generation.  At E3 today the electronics giant unveiled release dates and pricing for the PlayStation Move motion controller as well as software push into the third dimension.  Sony also announced a premium, not free, version of the PlayStation Network.

10 free games with PSP Go

Flogging a dead horse?  Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has launched a new initiative to move the online only PlayStation Portable Go (PSP Go) off store shelves.  SCEA are offering ten free games with each PSP Go sold, including Assassin's Creed Bloodlines, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and Gran Turismo.
