TPG has paid a whopping $1.26 billion for two lots of 10MHz  in the 700MHz spectrum auction, with Vodafone also shelling out $286 million on buying up the previously unsold spectrum.

Bidding for the unsold lots of the 700 MHz band spectrum has kicked off with the Australian Communications and Media Authority opening the online auction.

Telstra dominates the Australian telecoms market with a revenue share of around 62%, and is now well-positioned to increase its business at the expense e of its rival telcos in the emerging digital, sharing and networking economy, according to industry analysts.
