LTE now, NBN when?

So much nonsense has been written about the so-called 4G versus NBN debate that it seems that everyone except some serious telecoms pundits have overlooked a key fact - the NBN is still years away.  Therefore, the debate is really 4G versus DSL, a debate that looks to start heating up very soon.

Broadband guarantee doubles minimum speeds

The Rudd Government has doubled minimum broadband service speeds and doubled the minimum data allowance under its Australian Broadband Guarantee following Telstra's announcement of more competitively priced NextG wireless services.

Telstra expands Next G coverage

Telstra claims that more than 100 locations around Australia now have mobile coverage for the first time as a result of the continuing expansion of the carrier's Next G 3G network.

Yet another Telstra announcement on 21Mbps Next G wireless has arrived, this time toutin’ the fast talkin’, world record holdin’ Fran Capo on her Australian tour, to show off her Guinness World Record motor mouth and speedily segue into a spiel on the sizzlin’ speeds and in-store availability of Telstra’s 21Mbps wireless modems.

Last week I spilled the beans Telstra were about to announce new shared data plans for their range of NextG modems. This is a major plus for business users seeking to control costs but yet provide their workforce with mobile working options. The pricing has now been announced.
