Australia, NZ amongst worst for online brand attacks

Australia continues to rank as one of the top ten countries worldwide to suffer online brand attacks, and while Colombia and France have dropped off the chart completely, New Zealand and Brazil have entered the list for the first time, according to a new report on worldwide fraud released today.

Fake Facebook emails warning!

Symantec has followed-up its recent report warning of an increasing trend to phishing attacks on Facebook, with a new warning for Facebook users to beware of fake emails attempting to steal login details to use their account for launching future phishing attacks on unsuspecting social networkers.

Commonwealth Bank under siege by phishers

Australia’s largest bank, the Commonwealth Bank, has been undergoing a series of phishing attacks that have gone from simple alerts of “banking errors”, through to chances of winning money, and now an attack that wants CommBank users to call a number and verify their details to a talking computer – but it’s all just a phishing scam!
