Italian FWA (fixed wireless access) telecoms provider EOLO, has deployed what is claimed to be the first 5G standalone mmWave RAN (radio access network) in Europe, using equipment from Finnish vendor Nokia.

Nokia, Vodafone pilot 5G RAN in Italy

British telecommunications company Vodafone and Finnish telco vendor Nokia will trial commercial 5G open radio access network in Italy, a move, both companies say, will stimulate competition and innovation in Europe.
