Apple iPod upgrade fatigue? I don't think so

CRN blogger Brian Kramer is suffering a bout of iPod upgrade fatigue, despite the fact he thinks he’ll buy one anyway, already owns an iPod and is a Mac user. Too bad for Kraemer he isn’t as funny as the real Kramer, who looks a heck of a lot funnier than Jerry Seinfeld in the new Microsoft ad!

iMessage to Apple: iPhone OS 2.0 sucks

Hi Apple! I love the iPhone, but you’ve seriously screwed things up with iPhone OS 2.0 – an operating system that is reminding me of the original OS X 10.0 and the new 10.5.x in its bugginess, an OS that desperately needs updating to a more stable version. Can we hurry it up, please?

Got an original iPhone and want to unlock it, or jailbreak an iPhone 3G using the PwnageTool 2.0 but can't because you're using Windows? A solution has surfaced that's reported to be working!

Published in Mobility
It’s finally here, the PwnageTool 2.0 to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 2G, jailbreak only at this stage the iPhone 3G and jailbreak the iPod Touch – all running the shiny new iPhone OS 2.0!

Published in Mobility
So, the iPhone 3G sold 1 million units by Sunday US time after launching in 21 countries, and 10 million apps via the App Store, but iTunes activation, MobileMe and firmware update snafus left millions of customers fuming, too.

The iPhone Dev Team says the iPhone OS 2.0 software can be jailbroken and unlocked, and have videos to prove it. But original iPhone hacker Geohot says that while jailbreaking is easy and original iPhones with older basebands can be unlocked, the iPhone 3G is a different story and will take much longer. What’s going on?!

Published in Mobility
The iPhone Dev Team, which had previously unlocked beta versions of the iPhone OS 2.0 software, has claimed that it unlocked the officially released 2.0 software even before it became officially available to download – but the world will have to wait until next week to get it.

Published in Mobility
If you got a new iPhone 3G yesterday or today, depending where in the world you are, then you are probably happily exploring the version 2.0 software and the third party apps that it supports. If you are an existing Apple customer trying to upgrade, it appears you can go hang. Just like the iTunes Store is doing...

No Vista Inside for Intel

Upgrade to Windows Vista? No thanks, says Intel according to an insider. The chip giant apparently has no plans to upgrade 80,000 employees from XP to Vista, in what must be a painful blow to Microsoft.

Hey, Apple’s App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch are due in 6 days, but who knows what apps will be available on day one? After all, Apple will be very strict, but why wait, when you can jailbreak now and have some pre-app store fun?

Yes, that’s right – Microsoft has said a lot about the upcoming Windows 7 while masterfully revealing little, spilling not many but barely more than a single bean of info. Is it the perfect start to a glorious new era of “promise and deliver” or just more of the same-ol’, same-ol’?

Lumbered with a laptop computer that has three of the drivers Microsoft specially detected to prevent Vista SP1’s download, jumping aboard the SP1 train via Windows Update was something Microsoft was specifically preventing me from doing. But I’ve loaded it anyway. What are my experiences so far, and how did I do it?

Psystar, the company that caused a stir by offering a low-cost computer running Mac OS X, is now providing a range of software patches via its web site. Will Apple finally respond?

The reports that Service Pack 3 for Windows XP is causing problems for users are flooding in. Has Microsoft lost control of the software writing process and compatibility with the widest range of hardware?

In what is becoming a rather comical comedy of comedic errors for Microsoft, the news that XP SP3 is being temporarily delayed is clearly the punch line to a joke, right? No, it’s yet another delay, due to a ‘compatibility issue’, this time with the Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System.

Browser company Opera is preparing its star of the browser stage for its latest performance: Opera 9.5 Beta 2. Is Opera’s latest beta... better?

Got Windows XP and feel like breaking the law? We don’t recommend it, for it’s illegal, but XP SP3 is reportedly available on torrent sites – and reportedly will pass the WGA check. Naughty!

On the cusp of Microsoft’s decision to demote Windows XP from a retail product into one that is only available for ultra-low cost PCs, the long-awaited Service Pack 3 (SP3) has finally gone RTM, with consumers able to start manually downloading it from April 29. Will horror installation stories follow?

HD DVD not yet dead for Xbox 360 - final update?

Who said HD DVD was totally dead... yet? Microsoft are issuing a new Xbox 360 HD DVD update which will auto update for Xbox Live members, with a manual download option also available. Pity it won’t update itself to a Blu-ray player!

I wonder what Apple’s telco partners know that they can’t publicly announce, but could be trying to hint through deals that seem to scream: sell remaining stock, fast!
