Psystar loses appeal against Apple verdict
Mac cloner Psystar has lost its appeal against a key aspect of the Apple v Psystar decision. Using licence terms to tie the use of software to a particular manufacturer's hardware is not copyright abuse.

Psystar: It's dead, Steve
Apple has succeeded in gaining a permanent injunction against Mac clonemaker Psystar from selling computers with any version of OS X installed. The court also declined to exclude Rebel EFI, Psystar's software that enables an end user to install OS X on a non-Apple machine, from the injunction.

Psystar takes a round off Apple in Mac clone court case
Psystar has achieved a small but potentially significant win in its legal scrap with Apple. The Mac 'cloner' has been granted leave by US District Judge William Alsup to amend its counterclaims.

EFiX Mac clone aborted amid legal concerns
Yet another would be Mac cloner has shelved plans to bring a product to market amid claims the whole thing was a misunderstanding. EFiX USA planned a family of high-performance PCs that could be used to run Mac OS X with the aid of an optional extra, but later reversed its decision in a highly public turnaround.

Psystar alleges copyright misuse by Apple
Mac cloner Psystar has squeezed ahead of a court-imposed deadline to amend its counterclaims against Apple after having its original countersuit tossed out of court. Apple's original suit against Psystar alleged copyright, trademark and trade dress infringement; trademark dilution; breach of contract; and unfair competition.

Psystar ships Blu-ray while Apple dithers
Psystar and Apple might be entering into some kind of private dispute resolution in order to sort out the ongoing battle involving the sale of OS X-compatible PCs, but that hasn't stopped the arguing. Nor has it stopped Psystar from beating Apple when it comes to shipping Blu-ray equipped kit.

Apple asks judge to dismiss Psystar countersuit 'with prejudice'
The latest move in Apple v Psystar is a motion to dismiss the cloner's allegation that Apple has violated antitrust law. If the judge agrees, it could mean an earlier end to the case.

Apple wants to take Psystar and its clone customers to the cleaners
Apple has pulled out all the stops and come out swinging against Mac cloner Psystar, asking for all profits made from its clones and a total recall of all Psystar clones sold into the market. The Cupertino company is making a total of ten claims against the Miami based system builder, covering copyright, trademark and trade dress infringement, trademark dilution, breach of contract, and unfair competition.
