Mac cloner Psystar has lost its appeal against a key aspect of the Apple v Psystar decision. Using licence terms to tie the use of software to a particular manufacturer's hardware is not copyright abuse.

Psystar: It's dead, Steve

Apple has succeeded in gaining a permanent injunction against Mac clonemaker Psystar from selling computers with any version of OS X installed. The court also declined to exclude Rebel EFI, Psystar's software that enables an end user to install OS X on a non-Apple machine, from the injunction.

Apple v Psystar back on track

The Bankruptcy Court handling Psystar's Chapter 11 application has given the go-ahead for Apple's case against the cloner.

Psystar has achieved a small but potentially significant win in its legal scrap with Apple. The Mac 'cloner' has been granted leave by US District Judge William Alsup to amend its counterclaims.

Psystar ships Blu-ray while Apple dithers
