Why can't I just play DVDs in Linux?

One deterrent to switching operating systems is the inability to perform tasks with a minimum of fuss. Unfortunately, for Linux, doing something as natural as playing a movie on DVD doesn’t just work out-of-the-box. The reason why not is the same reason the Nintendo Wii doesn’t play DVDs either.

Activision has released the final list of 85 tracks for the upcoming Guitar Hero 5.  Superstition, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Sultans of Swing all make the cut.

Come on, Wii Sports Resort is not even released outside of Japan, so how come every time I try to buy a MotionPlus, the store is sold out?  Do people understand this only works with selected titles?

Video game sales slump further in June

The NPD figures for June are out, and they tell a continuing tale of decline in the sector once thought to be recession proof.  In particular, pressure on Sony to drop the PlayStation 3 retail price is building.

Following a successful first wave of legal action to defend patents applicable to Wi-Fi networking, Australia's national science agency CSIRO is going after the rest of the industry.
