Aussie mapping technology set to take on Google

Perth based Ipernica (ASX: IPR) is poised to launch a new media company based around high resolution digitised terrain maps, that it says will compete with Google Maps and with Microsoft Bing.

Google Update goes open source

To save other developers from having to re-invent the wheel, Google has decided to open the source code of Google Update. Well, that's what the company implies.

The orbital debris from the collision of the U.S. Iridium 33 satellite and the Russian Cosmos 2251 satellite can now be tracked in real-time by using Google Earth and an Orbiting Frog. See how to do it here!

Google, NASA add planet Mars to Google Earth 5.0

On Monday, February 2, 2009, NASA announced its collaboration with Google to bring a high-resolution, three-dimensional view of Mars. The Google Earth 5.0 will provide maps of the Red Planet so you can explore the planet just like NASA robots on its surface and NASA spacecraft orbiting above.
