Victoria Police Force harnesses OutSystems’ low-code development platform

By

The Victoria Police has tapped enterprise software company OutSystems to streamline its operational processes.

The collaboration will focus on providing better digital resources for officers out in the field.

Victoria Police sought a Business Process Management (BPM) platform, emphasising the need to upgrade the department’s electronic penalty infringement notice system (EPINS).

Victoria Police said OutSytems was a standout choice “following a rigorous selection process.”

"Our selection by Victoria Police is due to our comprehensive feature set which, during a hands-on developer enablement exercise, demonstrated the ease at which our platform can be adopted. New developers on the platform were able to swiftly solve all functionality test cases, showcasing its suitability for the Victoria Police requirements,” stated OutSystems regional vice president for ANZ Paul Arthur.

OutSystems provides application development by leveraging visual development, pre-built code modules, and one-click publish.

The platform enables developers of any skill level to build customised applications that automate and orchestrate unique cross-functional workflows, eliminating errors and repetitive tasks.

The partnership aims to provide better tools for frontline members of the force. To that end, both OutSystems and the Police Department collaborated closely to integrate a platform to allow the organisation to adapt to requirements as they evolve.

Using OutSystems enables Victoria Police to address a wide range of process and user experience use cases across both web and mobile platforms in a fraction of the time typically required by alternative development methods.

OutSystems will work alongside partner PhoenixDX to ensure the delivery of the first critical application, prioritising security compliance.

“We will deliver to Victoria Police a robust business process automation capability, ready to scale and to provide multiple outcomes for the front line,” said PhoenixDX managing director and founder Pedro Carrilho.

“This is a particularly rewarding account for us to engage with, as there is a very clear relationship between our technology, the important work being done by Victoria Police out in the community, and the actual community itself. We underwent a highly rigorous evaluation process and the OutSystems platform really stood up to the test and proved its flexibility, ease of use and general productivity,” commented OutSystems regional director Peter Swart.
