Oh the Rapture (nothing happened!)

Rolling around the world, at 6pm in every time-zone, Saturday May 21st was the day all good christians would ascend to heaven, leaving the rest of us heathens to flounder in the mud.  Unfortunately (for the christians) nothing happened.

Biologist priest accepts Darwin, God

Biologist and former Catholic priest Francisco J. Ayala has been honored with the Templeton Prize for his work in affirming spirituality. Ayala believes that God created the world and evolution took over afterwards.

Newsweek poll: Religious in America

The magazine Newsweek conducted a poll about religious views of people in the United States. Its title "A Post-Christian Nation?" raises some interesting thoughts on religious views, and their trends over time.

Danish researchers wanted to find out if religious people think they are really talking to a real entity ('God') or a fictitious one ('Santa Claus'). MRI scans to the prefrontal cortex in the brain were the key to their conclusion.

Three Wise Men saw Jesus in June

According to Australian astronomer David Reneke, the bright Christmas Star (or, the Star of Bethlehem), which has been written about as appearing over the little manger in the town of Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago, did not occur in December but in June. Maybe Bing Crosby should be singing about a "Green Christmas," not a White one?
