Office Web Apps OK for Mac

Microsoft has confirmed Mac compatibility for the forthcoming Office Web Apps. Office Web Apps is essentially Microsoft's 'software plus services' response to Google Docs.

Microsoft back down on IE8 $10,000 competition

Internet Explorer 8 could net you $10,000, but cost you your soul, judging by the feedback from certain sectors to Microsoft’s IE8-only competition. Microsoft has paid attention and now the "ten grand is buried here" competition no longer requires Internet Explorer be used.

Safari 11 million, Firefox 150 million

Apple bragged about Safari 4 being downloaded more than 11 million times in three days. Firefox 3.0.11 was downloaded 150 million times in 24 hours.

It seems that the competition regulator of an unelected government purporting to represent the sovereign nations of Western Europe is waging a socialist war against US technology companies - and Microsoft is the key target. The battle has now come to a head with Microsoft acquiescing to yet another nonsensical demand from the European Commission but still not able to make peace.

Dear Microsoft: Don't meddle with Firefox

Microsoft's automated update facility is a wonderful thing.  It applies patches to all kinds of Microsoft packages.  Oddly, it recently also tried to pwn Firefox.
