Want healthy restaurants: Try Health Mag's Healthiest List

By
Health Magazine has compiled a list of the healthiest chain restaurants across the United States. Some are no-brainers, but others might surprise you. Check them out!

Tired of restaurants that don’t state the nutritional content of their food? Hungry for an eatery that has healthy fare on its menu? Worried that you can't see your feet when you walk out of a diner?

Health Magazine separates the fat from the bone in its list of Healthiest Restaurants across the United States.

An advisory panel of health experts investigated 43 different sit-down restaurant chains and 53 fast-service chains across the United States.

Although they discovered that many restaurants are still determined to keep their nutritional content a secret (we suspect because they haven’t yet made their food very healthy), there are quite a few restaurant chains that are improving with the times—and, what is really great is that their food still tastes good!

According to the website of Health Magazine, this is how they decided which restaurants made the list, “… we separated national chains that offer sit-down service from those that have primarily counter or fast service and scored each group based on criteria from our expert panel. Out of 43 sit-down and 53 fast-service chains, those that did not provide any nutritional information (maybe next year, Cheesecake Factory!) were automatically eliminated. The rest were judged on healthy food preparation; the availability of organic or hormone-free foods; whole grains on the menu; limited or no trans-fats in all dishes; low-sodium options; healthy beverages; and portion control; as well as how easily you, the customer, can access nutritional information—so you know exactly what you’re getting in your spaghetti and meatballs.”

The healthiest restaurant chains in the United States, according to Health Magazine, are:

1.    Uno's Chicago Grill
2.    Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes
3.    Mimi's Café
4.    P.F. Chang's China Bistro
5.    Bob Evans Restaurants
6.    Ruby Tuesday
7.    Romano's Macaroni Grill
8.    Chevy's Fresh Mex
9.    Olive Garden
10.   Denny's

Check out why these restaurants got the nod from Health Magazine’s health experts at “America’s Healthiest Restaurants .”

Curious as to what restaurants didn't make the list. Please read on.

Some of the other restaurant chains didn't do so well.

Find out why Chili’s, O’Charley’s, Cracker Barrel, and Pizza Hut didn't make the healthiest list.

Also, what happened with Taco Bell, Benihana, Bertucci’s, Bonefish Grill, and California Pizza Kitchen?
