Optus has sealed a deal with wholesale television and satellite equipment distributor, NAS Australia, which it says will expand the distribution of its SatSleeve product range in regional and remote areas of Australia.
Travelling around remote and isolated areas of Australia for sightseeing or for work often means no mobile phone network signal and the average Joe doesn’t have access to a satellite phone, let alone something which can actually transform the mobile into a satellite phone.
Optus claims it can now effectively deliver 100% mobile coverage across Australia by turning your smartphone into a satellite phone – but that’s only if you are in line of sight with a satellite and you have the latest SatSleeve satellite phone or a SatSleeve Hotspot Wi-Fi app from Thuraya.
Optus has begun selling an iPhone 6 adaptor for the Thuraya SatSleeve smartphone-to-satphone accessory.
