Google Voice comes to iPhone--again

Palm to open Pre app developers platform

In December, Palm will open the official webOS developer program to support the creation of applications for the Pre and other upcoming smartphones. The company also launched its App Catalog of applications available for download.

No FOSS for Palm app catalog says Netscape pioneer

It appears Palm is seeking to follow Apple’s footsteps in gaining a reputation for inconsistent and spurious rejections and removals of iPhone and iPod Touch applications. In this case, Palm has resisted including a free application because the source code is attainable elsewhere.

Apple drops copyright complaint against wiki

Apple has withdrawn its legal threats against the Bluwiki website for hosting discussions of how to sync iPods with software other than iTunes. In response, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has dismissed its lawsuit against Apple.

iTunes update blocks Palm Pre

The latest update for iTunes stops the Palm Pre from synchronising with the iTunes library. It also delivers unspecified but supposedly "important" bug fixes.

Handset giant Nokia has been losing out big time to iPhone and Blackberry in the smartphone stakes but hopes to turn things around with the release of the N97 on June 26. Will the N97  finally give us something to get excited about or is this new “iPhone killer” just more Nokia noise?

Participants in the Palm Pre-oriented community PreCentral.net have discovered how to add unsigned applications to the smartphone, opening the way for users to experiment with homebrewed applications.

Yes, the iPhone 3G S has just launched, but Palm’s own webOS revolution is doing well with a quick update, delivered over-the-air, to immediately improve stability for some apps, a dozen new apps arriving post launch, an SDK is on the way and at least 50,000 sold at launch. Not bad, for Palm… but is it enough?
