5G subscriptions in the Gulf Cooperation Council region are projected to grow at an average annual rate of 30% from 15 to 71 million up to the end of 2028 accounting for 86% of total connections, forecasts Ericsson’s Mobility November 2022 report.
An extra 400 million enhanced mobile broadband subscriptions globally by the end of 2024 has been forecast by Ericsson in the wake of “rapid early momentum and enthusiasm” for 5G.
Ericsson says its semi-annual Mobility Report "delivers unmatched insights into the present and future of mobile technology usage as well as the proliferation of IoT and connected devices".
From the addition of 87 million new mobile broadband subscriptions in Q3 2015 to the estimate that will video account for 70% of total by mobile traffic by 2021, mobility is booming.
Video traffic on the mobile Internet is growing by 60% annually, driven by better network speeds and the proliferation of smartphones. And most of the world’s population will have access to 4G by 2018.
