Minicomputer pioneer Ken Olsen passes away

The founder of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) which led the way in bringing minicomputers to businesses all over the world, Ken Olsen, died last Sunday at the age of 84. DEC and its founder Olsen were on the forefront of the wave of what is often termed the second generation of computers, much smaller than the IBM mainframes which were only affordable for the very largest corporations.
