PNY Performance DDR5 is designed to support the growing lineup of motherboards compatible with the new DDR5 memory standard, which allows for higher density modules and faster frequency speeds.
Intel's Alder Lake CPU was the first to support DDR5, but other CPU manufacturers are adopting the standard and DDR5 is likely to overtake DDR4 in popularity by 2023.
DDR5 is able to support up to four times higher density modules, with a minimum speed of 4800MHz.

The standard includes 1.1V operation (with onboard circuitry to convert the 12V supply from the motherboard) and on-die ECC support to improve reliability.
"We're excited to have cutting-edge DDR5 technology in our product portfolio. While we are launching our first DDR5 models in the Performance line, we will also be supporting gamers, content creators, and enthusiasts in their on-going quest for ultimate performance, by launching models under our XLR8 Gaming brand featuring higher frequency speeds and include models with aggressive out-of-the-box overclocking, stylish heat spreaders and RGB," said PNY product manager Kevin Chang.
The 8GB PNY DDR5 costs $199 while the 16GB version is $299.
