The app enables BP Plus card customers to pay for their fuel, track their odometer, store electronic fuel receipts, and locate the closest BP service station, all from their smartphones.
“Providing a simpler and faster way to fill up, BPMe will allow customers to enjoy the best possible refuelling experience by giving time back and conveniently making payment from the comfort of their vehicle,” said VP sales and marketing, Brooke Miller.
“Smartphone penetration rates in Australia are some of the highest in the world and mobile payment solutions are what our customers have been demanding. It’s the way of the future and BP is at the front of this innovation.”

The iOS and Android app was developed by New Zealand-based PaperKite, that has worked for organisations including the United Nations, Trans Perth, and the New Zealand government. It has been extensively tested in New Zealand.
Nic Gibbens, chief executive of PaperKite, said that he enjoyed working with BP in redefining fuel retailing to turn a drudge purchase into an experience that is ridiculously easy. “We’ve created an App that interfaces with BP’s comprehensive technology stack, but it still feels light and intuitive to use. The speed that we can check the status of the site, authorise a pump and deliver fuel to a customer is incredible. End-to-end response times are typically sub-second, which means it almost feels too fast, giving the customer the greatest possible experience.”
It is understood that the apps will soon accept [at least in NZ] credit and debit card payments from various loyalty card programmes so a user can check their balance, redeem and accrue points without even getting out of your car.
BPMe will be piloted in Australia to a select group of BP Plus card SME customers in August. It will be rolled out to 340+ sites by October.
