Telecommunications services provider Visionstream has been awarded a $350 million contract with Telstra to supply maintenance and building services to the big telco’s exchanges and networks.

Visionstream is set to start work on a $90 million contract from Telstra to repair the carrier's pits and pipes in Victoria and Tasmania.

Telstra has renewed its contract with Leighton Contractors' Visionstream subsidiary for the provision of fibre services to major customers that, Visionstream says, could be worth $120m over its three year life.

Leighton Contractors' data centre subsidiary, Metronode has commenced construction of the first two data centres, in Deer Park in Melbourne and Shenton Park in Perth, under its $100m data centre expansion program announced in January. They will offer respectively 7000 and 1140 square metres of technical space.

Leighton Contractors' subsidiary Australia-Singapore Cable (International) (ASC) has announced plans to build a fibre optic cable between Perth and Singapore.
