Ericsson tops Arris' bid for Tandberg Television

In a move that reflects growing urgency for comms equipment vendors to get into the TV space, Ericsson has trumped Arris Corporation's bid for Tandberg Television with an offer of $U1.4 billion, 10.4 percent higher than Arris' offer.

Analyst tips Apple as major set-top box vendor

Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitemore believes Apple could take as much as one-third of the $US26 billion market for set-top boxes in the next few years, eating into the shares held by Microsoft and Sony. Like the Apple TV, those companies' Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games consoles can be used to play audio and video content.

Google to run video ads from BMG, Warner
