Australia’s competition watchdog the ACCC has issued a warning that it is aware that scammers have been calling people, falsely claiming to help them get a refund from various businesses.
Over half (60%) of Australians shop online weekly and the majority (67%) are concerned about the prevalence of online scams, yet one-quarter admit they are likely to click on a link via Facebook or other social media to get a good deal, according to recent research from digital security and privacy company Avast.
Consumers are being warned to watch out for scam websites impersonating high-profile Australian retailers when shopping online this Black Friday, Cyber Monday sale weekend on 24 to 27 November.
