Vodaboned: mayday, mayday!

With many of its customers on caps that include free SMS anyway, Vodafone's offer of a free SMS half-day on the first of May seems a slap in the face to Vodafail's customers, many of whom feel utterly Vodaboned.

iPhone 3.0 Beta Pwned!

The iPhone 3.0 firmware is still in Beta, but that doesn't mean it cannot be jailbroken as Apple discovered within 24 hours of releasing iPhone OS 3 Beta 2.

Much has been made about the supposed speed with which a Mac running Safari was pwned in the PWN2OWN competition at last week's CanSecWest security conference. But it turns out that the crack was over a year in the making.

Pownce pwned apart by Six Apart

One of Twitter’s main competitors, Pownce, started off with a lot of hype but inexorably lost out to Twitter’s charms. Now, it’s new owner Six Apart, will shut the service down, promising “great things” in the future and inviting Pownce users to try Six Apart’s Vox service instead.

Gizmodo is pointing to reports from HowardForums and iPodTouchFans that seem to suggest the new MacBooks don’t let you restore a custom pwned firmware from iTunes, forcing new MacBook users to pwn through Windows or an older Mac instead. Meanwhile ZiPhone Zibri says he knows how to crash the iPhone, iPod Touch and video playing iPods.
