Nortel alumni mount rescue bid

According to a report from Canada's CanWest news service, the former president of Nortel, along with several long-retired colleagues are trying to raise $US1bn to buy Nortel and keep it intact, in contrast to the current management which is doing its best to sell off various parts of the bankrupt company.

Nortel has appointed Ingram Micro to distribute  Nortel unified communications (UC) solutions to its network of IT resellers in Australia.

Nortel has introduced new capabilities to its unified communications products to complement Release 2 of Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007, which became available earlier this month.

Nortel files for bankruptcy protection - UPDATED
