Optus in collaboration with Ericsson and Oppo, have doubled down on 5G advancements, announcing a successful completion of a voice call over a commercial 5G standalone network.

Australia's second biggest telco Singtel Optus has teamed up with Swedish telecommunications equipment provider Ericsson to make what it claims is the world's first 2300 + 3500MHz 5G non-standalone carrier aggregation call.

Optus has announced the successful launch of a “world-first’ 2300MHz and 3500MHz spectrum 5G dual-band production network in partnership with Ericsson and Samsung, which it says has the potential to increase 5G capacity and coverage to Optus customers.

Telcos Singtel and Optus along with equipment vendor Ericsson say they have successfully made an end-to-end video call with augmented reality between Singapore and Australia, using an OPPO 5G test device.

Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson has helped Singapore's Singtel to become the city state's first operator of a country-wide Internet of Things network that is commercially available.
