WHO says H1N1 is with us for another year

The leader of the World Health Organization (WHO) stated on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, that the pandemic called H1N1 influenza (flu) virus will likely remain a major health problem into 2011.

Aspirin, acetaminophen may hurt flu vaccines

According to research by the University of Missouri, vaccines such as those for the H1N1 flu virus (Influenza A  virus) may not be as effective if over-the-counter drugs, such as aspirin and Tylenol, are taken regularly.

FDA warns of fake online H1N1 drugs

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers, on October 15, 2009, about the Web advertising of fake “Tamiflu” pills for H1N1 flu treatments. The FDA states that such purchases should only be made through licensed U.S. pharmacies and with a medical professional’s prescription.

Google infects Australia with Google Flu Trends!

After the successful launch of Google Flu Trends in the US and Mexico last year, Google has arrived in the midst of the “Swine Flu” mini-pandemic to deliver “Google Flu Trends for Australia and NZ”, and just in time for the traditional flu season in the southern hemisphere.

Pork not guilty for swine flu

Reports have been emerging that the pork industry is being hurt by the spreading of swine flu. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that there is no association between eating pork and getting the swine flu.
