Apple has threatened to withdraw services like iMessage and FaceTime from the UK, if it is forced to implement measures around encryption by the government.

The only thing the iPad mini doesn't have is a traditional phone dialler, but with FaceTime support and the ability to have a landline number through Skype and other services, along with WhatsApp and plenty more, the awesome new iPad mini may well morph into a future iPhone Mega.

Telstra claims iMessage and FaceTime bug now fixed

Earlier today, Telstra announced that "some" of its customers "experienced an issue with Apple iMessage and FaceTime", but has since announced the problem has been fixed.

Google’s dastardly duo biffs FaceTime and Skype

Although Skype went through hell last week with a massive meltdown, Skype was clearly gearing up to stun and amaze us all with its new Skype video call version for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, something that works over 3G and Wi-Fi, in a clear challenge to the Wi-Fi only FaceTime - although Skype STILL doesn't work with Bluetooth!!!

If the latest iPad 2 rumours are to be believed, the iPad 2 will feature the same size screen but a slightly smaller overall size, leading to a smaller bezel, although there'll supposedly be a better speaker, a new flat back, the expected two cameras and a potentially unlikely January release date.

Apple's FaceTime freakin' rocks

iPhone 4 and FaceTime - just works

We've had the opportunity to put Apple's new video-chat feature, FaceTime, to the test. What we found was that it really does just work although those looking for true video call functionality will be disappointed.
