Jabra announces new headsets, looks to the future

Headset specialist Jabra has announced a pair of entry-level professional wireless headsets. One is intended for use with conventional desk phones, the other with unified communications applications, softphones, and applications such as Skype.

Is there no end to the amount of functionality chipmakers can pack into a single device? Not only does the latest offering from Broadcom support ADSL+ and VDSL2 on the upstream side, it has the latest technologies for squeezing more out of copper: vectoring and bonding and on the downstream side it supports 802.11n WiFi, DECT for cordless telephony support and home automation, VoIP and ethernet switching.

DECT Forum's low key response to security problems

The DECT Forum, the body responsible for the DECT cordless telephony technology, has made a low key response to claims that conversations over DECT phones can be easily and cheaply intercepted, and has taken the opportunity to promote the successor to DECT, CAT-iq, claiming it will be much more secure.
