A bit of water found on Moon!

The Indian spacecraft Chandrayann-1 spacecraft is orbiting about the Moon with the U.S. Moon Mineralogy Mapper instrument onboard. It found water molecules in the polar regions of the Moon, and two other NASA spacecraft confirmed the exciting discovery. Only a small amount of water was discovered, however, scientists are now optimistic that more will be found with further explorations.

Cassini heightens its study of Saturn's rings

Project scientists with the Cassini spacecraft mission are astonished to see for the first time that the rings of Saturn have a dramatic third dimension, height, and some of them are as tall as a couple of miles.

The Cassini spacecraft has detected sodium salts within ice grains of the outermost ring of Saturn. Since jets from its moon Enceladus replenish the material found in the ring, astronomers think an ocean of liquid water could exist beneath its surface.

NASA announced on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, that it has observed—for the first time ever in the solar system (other than on Earth)—a liquid body on the surface of a celestial object--in this case, Saturn’s moon Titan.

The NASA spacecraft Cassini, while on its travels around the planet Saturn, has found striking evidence that the tiny Saturnian moon of Enceladus may have a vast ocean underneath its cold, icy surface.

Final pre-June 9 WWDC proof of a 3G iPhone?

With 6 days to go before the 3G iPhone is unveiled by Steve Jobs, the announcement that Softbank, a 3G carrier in Japan, will also sell the iPhone “later this year” is yet more proof the 3G iPhone is real. And is coming much sooner than “later this year” might indicate!

Be a Martian or Saturnian explorer! NASA is holding the “Cassini Scientist for a Day” contest for the exploration of Mars and the “Students Exploring the Red Planet” contest for the exploration of the planet Saturn. Go where no student has gone before!

On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, NASA mission controllers will direct the Cassini spacecraft to make its closest approach to Saturn’s moon Enceladus to sample water-ice, dust, and gas from active geysers.

Scientists working with NASA’s Cassini spacecraft have found what appears to be a ring system around Saturn’s second largest moon, Rhea. If this tenuous ring system is verified, it will be the first time that a ring has been found around a planetary moon.
