Thirty-six percent of Australians – equivalent to almost 7 million people – are looking to buy a new mobile in 2022, with the Apple iPhone at the top of Australians’ shopping list, according to a survey by comparison website Finder.

As was leaked on Twitter, Apple's iPhone 12 models are being launched on October 13, at 10am PDT at the Apple Park Campus, which is 4am AEDT October 14 in Australia - with four iPhone 12 models expected.

With Apple the most profitable smartphone, tablet, computing and technology company around, lame claims that Apple is in trouble because it won't have a 5G phone this year should be hung up on.

Australians are buying mobile phones from big Chinese companies Huawei and OPPO faster than they are snapping up handsets from other phone providers, according to new research which reveals Huawei’s share of purchases grew by 87% to  471,000 handsets in the 12 months to September.

Aussie mobile phone users are not tempted by the “latest and greatest” smartphones, with many of them planning on keeping the same smartphone for three years on average, according to comparison website finder.com.au.

Samsung used the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to announce competition to Apple’s watch in the form of its Gear S2, S3, and the Gear Fit 2 that now run on Apple’s iPhone 5 or later.

Apple don’t comment on unsubstantiated rumours – so perhaps we should not comment either but hey - its fun.

Global sales of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones now exceed 100 million. Meanwhile Apple iPhone 5 production has slowed and its share price has dropped below $500 for the first time in a year.
