Review - Tenda 4G09 AC1200 dual-band Wi-Fi 4G+ LTE router

By

REVIEW PROMOTION You can't always cable in the Internet wherever you are, but so long as you have mobile reception Tenda’s new router is here to hook you up.

Tenda is a global Chinese-based brand recognised widely for its routers and other networking products. The company has been innovating for over two decades with the mission of providing the best networking products at the best price. It’s been in Australia for nearly two years and although relatively young on our shores it’s definitely not holding back in bringing the best it has.

Tenda company holds expertise in mesh, routers, range extenders, access points, Powerline, Wi-Fi adapters, switches and other products. It has two well-equipped research and development centres to ensure the brand keeps offering best-in-class technology to customers.

The 4G09 dual-band Wi-Fi 4G+ LTE router is an impressive piece of equipment supporting Cat 6 cabling and coming with 2.4GHz 300Mbps and 5GHz 867Mbps Wi-Fi, two 5dBi 4G antennas and two gigabit ethernet ports.

It takes a mini SIM card for 4G and LTE capability, but you can also use a micro- or nano-SIM with an adapter.

If you don't need that much power the 4G09 has a smaller brother, the 4G03, which will be launched in Australia in a couple of months. The 4G03 provides 4G speed instead of 4G09’s 4G+ speed, and 100Mbps Ethernet ports instead of 4G09’s Gigabit Ethernet ports.

iTWire used the Tenda 4G09 and found it simple to setup and excellent to use. One note is the default Wi-Fi SSID has no password so once you connect the first time you will generally wish to change this. However, once you are running it is a snap to use the 4G09 anywhere you want. You can use it in a caravan or holiday location. You can use it in your car, with a cigarette lighter power adapter, and you can even use it to get an entire office online while you wait for the cabled Internet services to be installed. In fact, iTWire tested it with VoIP desk phones, 4K streaming, SaaS business applications and other things and the 4G09 effortlessly ate whatever we threw at it, providing stable Wi-Fi and solid Internet performance. We still had great results even in areas where the 4G signal was weaker.

You can get a 4G09 yourself from Amazon for $189. If you have any reason you need Internet access for multiple devices in an area you can’t cable for whatever reason, then the 4G09 is a must-have.
