iTWireTV Interview: Katrina Barry explains how me&u transforms hospitality with better, faster service, more profits, happier staff and even happier customers

By

GUEST INTERVIEW: Have you seen the me&u QR codes at Opera Bar tables and hundreds of other venues across Australia - or even the UK and US? Delivering menus digitally on your device while letting you order instantly saves tons of time, lets venues serve more people properly even with fewer staff, dishes up delicious data and awesome analytics, and even makes leaving a venue as easy as popping out of an Uber without needing to fiddle with credit cards or bills. It's massively transformational, with me&u CEO Katrina Barry joining iTWireTV to explain it all, and more!

me&u. Already well on its way to becoming a global leader in the hospitality technology space, the company's mission is to help the global hospitality industry recover, and having founded in 2018, understands both the pre-and-post pandemic era with aplomb.

Conceptualised by founder Stevan Premutico to transform the traditional ordering experience in a bid to solve deep rooted structural issues that have been the achilles heel of the hospitality industry for decades, me&u is far more than just a digital menu with exceptional user interface and user experience (UI and UX). It's ever evolving technology is intelligently and highly personalised to the ordering experience for both the customer and venue.

Presenting the best of both worlds, me&u seamlessly enables greater human connection, transforming staff from overly focusing on order taking and encouraging them to become even warmer hosts, while ensuring efficiency for venues, greater client satisfaction and retail growth.

The company works with operators, not against them, to create a more profitable future for the industry through fair financials, transparency, and a hospitality-led founding team, with an absolutely top-shelf team of supporters, investors, advisors and friends that include Justin Hemmes, Neil Perry, Meta's Will Easton, Afterpay and LinkedIn's Cliff Rosenberg, Google and Domain's Jason Pellegrino, and Uber's Mike Abbott.

Now helmed by global CEO Katrina Barry Barry, whose deep experience over many years in the hospitality, travel, health and digital businesses with companies like Contiki, Richard Branson's Virgin, BT Financial and others, the future for me&u truly books bright - and is sure to be tantalisingly transformational and digitally delicious!

The company also recently appointed a trio of terrific talent to progress its global expansion, including the impressively seasoned Tech CFO, Natalie Housson, as well as experienced business development and sales leader Brian Duncan as VP of Sales in the US, and the highly accomplished and success-driven Eric Seymour as the Head of Business Development in the US.

‍This enviable new trio at me&u will be critical to facilitating me&u’s global expansion, using their financial acumen, business development and channel experience, and understanding of overseas markets to plan and implement the global growth of me&u.

‍After all, with over 125 team members, thousands of partners, and 10 million customers tapping on with me&u globally to date, this now even more experienced me&u team are clearly committed to building a better future for hospitality, with me&u definitely a the brand to watch in this space.

So, to learn more, we spoke with Katrina Barry in a greatly engaging and fun video interview which is embedded directly below, with Katrina's passion absolutely evident. The company is not only in great hands, but is also an outstanding partner for hospitality businesses wanting to truly transform and take full advantage of the benefits of digital in delivering happier staff, better service, more profits, and happier customers. After the video is a summary of the topics we spoke about, so please watch and read on!

  • I started by introducing and welcoming Katrina, and noting I've used the me&u service at the Opera Bar and other venues, asking her to tell us about the company's and its story today in 2022.

  • Katrina shared the insight that made her join the company, and how positive digital disruption is so transformational.

  • Given the two years of the pandemic and lockdowns, which saw some hospitality businesses close while others stayed open, even if in modified form, we spoke about how me&u helps offline businesses go online, and how it has made the often-tedious order process dramatically easier and more engaging.

  • We spoke about how there's a great deal of analytics and data that hospitality businesses can now use in life-changing ways for better service, better profits, happier staff and happier customers.

  • Next was a discussion on how customers of all ages have used the service, with interesting findings, as well as their feedback and those from the venues using the me&u service.
  • Katrina shared some customer success stories of note, terrific technology partners, Katrina's extensive industry experience, advice on digital transformation for other industries and business, and what else we need to know about me&u that I hadn't already asked about, which includes new products and services.

  • We then finished up with my usual questions on memories of first computers, great advice received in life, and Katrina's final message to iTWire readers and viewers, and her current and future customers and partners.

So, to learn more about the impressive me&u service, to learn more about Katrina, and to understand why this is a game changer for the hospitality industry, please watch the video interview above!
