UK company acquires IDT

By

A majority holding in video and data display supplier Image Design Technology has been acquired by UK-based Midwich Group.

Privately owned Midwich is a distributor of audio visual, consumer electronics, displays, print and scanning solutions, security, auto ID/barcode and digital imaging products in the UK, Ireland and France.

Image Design Technology (IDT) is the group's first acquisition outside of Europe. It specialised in video walls, digital signage and related products.

IDT founder and managing director Gerry Wilkins will remain at the head of the local operation.

"Our partnership with Midwich allows us to add expand our product offering and act as a one-stop shop for our customers’ audio and visual needs," said Mr Wilkins.

"The acquisition will also help us increase our investment into the local marketplace, from adding technical resources, improved stock levels, marketing materials and training programmes, so that we can fully equip and support IDT customers."

Midwich MD Stephen Fenby said "We have been most impressed with Gerry and his team, and with the similarities in our businesses and service ethos.

"IDT has a great portfolio of quality brands and a strong reputation with customers serving the AV industry."
