Stan and Microsoft Australia have announced that the Stan SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) service will be available on Xbox One from today, providing ‘unlimited access to Australia’s largest library of SVOD content and an all-in-one entertainment experience.’
Well, if you’re a Stan subscriber that is - no-one gets nothing for nothing.
Stan is boasting of some exclusive premieres in 2016, which its subscribers can enjoy on any platform they choose to watch and experience Stan on, including Season 2 of Better Call Saul on 16 February, as well as returning seasons of UnREAL and Power later this year.
And, just like Netflix and Presto have been playing the original series game, so too has Stan, with season 2 of both Wolf Creek and No Activity set to premiere on Stan this year, too.
Stan also also boasts offering ‘every episode of hugely popular TV series such as Sherlock, Friends, Community and Breaking Bad available to stream exclusively on Stan’, letting Stan subscribers binge-watch their favourite shows whenever they want, as well as ‘enjoy the biggest blockbuster movies and the best in kids TV’ on whichever compatible device they own, including now the Xbox One games console.
Stan’s Director of Content and Product, Nick Forward, wasn’t backwards in stating: “We’re thrilled to be kicking off 2016 with the launch on Xbox One, offering a unique viewing experience for subscribers to enjoy Stan’s growing lineup of exclusive premieres. We look forward to bringing Australians even more ways to watch the very best TV content on more and more platforms throughout 2016.”
Jeremy Hinton, Business Group Lead for Interactive Entertainment at Microsoft Australia, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Stan to the Xbox One.
“Stan’s content lineup has something for everyone which perfectly complements our incredible list of unique entertainment features on the console such as Live TV, Voice Control, Skype, Xbox Fitness and a huge selection of sports apps, to name a few. The inclusion of Stan further cements Xbox One as the home of entertainment in Australia.”
Naturally, the Stan app on Xbox One provides access to HD content, as well as ‘full voice support via Xbox Kinect so you can use voice controls to browse and play video.’
Stan makes use of Xbox One exclusive features, including Snap – allowing viewers to snap the app to the side of the screen while performing other activities on console – and will be fully integrated with Xbox One’s Oneguide not long after launch.
Microsoft separately boasts that Xbox One ‘also has a number of additional platform features coming soon, including Full Live TV DVR, and the digital personal assistant ‘Cortana’.’
